Getting started with the Science of Reading does not have to be overwhelming!
Remember, it’s a journey and just take it one step at a time!

If you want to really change your practices to align with the science and research on how we learn to read, start with training! Below are some options to help you get started. It includes some free and some paid options. If you are a teacher, please be sure to ask your school if they have funding for professional development!

Really Great Reading offers FREE Training & is a great introduction to the Science of Reading
IMSE offers various trainings and is Orton-Gillingham based
The Reading League offers various trainings for a variety of grade levels
The Reading Teacher’s Top 10 Tools is comprehensive and easy to follow. It is only $25/month and if you work hard, you can get it done in 3-4 months
LETRS is the most comprehensive training and goes very in depth. This training is all about the why. It will give you the tools you need to be successful regardless of your program. However, it can be intense so if you are brand new, and I don’t recommend starting here but I do recommend doing this at some point!
Currently, LETRS is not accepting individuals for training so if you are looking to be trained, I recommend talking to your school or district!
